Alexander the Great was the king of Macedonia, and Ancient Greek Kingdom. Once Alexander the Great secured Greece he felt free to fulfill his fathers plan and invade and conquer Persia. In 334 B.C. he led 35,000 soldiers. Persian messengers went to the Royal Road to alert Persia about the invasion. An army of 40,000 rushed to defend Persia. The two forces met at Granicus River. Instead on waiting for Persia to make the first move he had his men attack. Alexander smashed through the Persian defense. Alexander victory alerted Persia. Darius III vowed to kill his invaders. He gathered a army of 50,000 to 75,000 men. Realizing he was out numbered Alexander had his best men attack Persia weak spots. The army then went straight to Darius. To avoid capture Darius fled. This victory gave him power over Anatolia. 

Scared by his defeat Darius try to negotiate a settlement between the two forces. He offered Alexander all the land West of the Euphrates that was his. Alexander men told him to accept but the greed got to Alexander. He declined the offer and said he would conquer the rest of the Persian Empire. Alexander marched to Egypt in 3332 B.C. Egypt welcomed him as a liberator. They declared him as a king. Alexander founded a city called Alexandria at the mouth of the Nile.

Alexander moved east to Mesopotamia to confront Darius. The desperate king assembled 250,00 men. The two armies met at Gaugamela. Alexander launched a massive attack and Darius yet again got frightened and fled. This victory by Alexander ended Persia power. Within a short time he conquered Susa Babylon and many more places. Alexander left some cities in destruction to let people know Persia destruction. 

Conclusion

Alexander the Great was one of the most powerful leaders every. I believe no one could stop him. He was severely outnumbered and still won. He conquered Persia with no problem.

Cinco De Mayo

Cinco De Mayo

The Battle of Puebla took place on May 5, 1862. There was a total of about 10,00 soldiers in the war. 462 French soldiers died in combat.The battle ended in a victory for the Mexican Army over the occupying French soldiers. Only 82 Mexican soldiers died.The Mexican victory is celebrated yearly on the fifth of May. The French Army was more equipped and larger than the Mexican army. The French was lead by general Charles de Lorencez. The Mexican troops were lead by 33 year old Zaragoza.

Why?

The battle came about by a misunderstanding of the French forces agreement to leave to the coast. When my Mexican Republic forces saw these French soldiers they felt threatened and took action.Lorencez was led to believe that the people of Puebla were friendly to the French, and that the Mexican Republican garrison which kept the people in line would be overrun by the population once he made a show of force. On 5 May 1862, against all advice, Lorencez decided to attack Puebla from the north. However, he started his attack a little too late in the day, using his artillery just before noon and by noon advancing his infantry.The French artillery had run out of ammunition, so the third infantry attack went unsupported.As the French retreated from their final assault, Zaragoza had his cavalry attack them from the right and left while troops concealed along the road. 

Aftermath

The Battle of Puebla was an inspirational event for wartime Mexico. The French were eventually victorious, winning the Second Battle of Puebla on 17 May 1863 and pushing on to Mexico City. On 9 May 1862, President Juárez declared that the anniversary of the Battle of Puebla would be a national holiday,^] regarded as "Battle of Puebla Day" or "Battle of Cinco de Mayo". Although today it is recognized in some countries as a day of Mexican heritage celebration, it is not a federal holiday in Mexico. The United States celebrates Cinco De Mayo more than any country in the world. Locals of Mexico recognize this day as another day.

Conclusion

The powerful French army lost to the Mexican Army. The French Army took more damaged. The French Army would eventually come back weeks later and win the Second Battle of Puebla.

What is the Great Wall of China?

The Great Wall of China is a wall made of stone, brick, wood, and other materials, built along an east to west line across the historical northern borders of China to protect the Chinese states and empires against the raids and invasions of the nomadic groups of the Eurasian Steppe. Several walls were being built as early as the 7th century BC; these, later joined together and made bigger and stronger, are now collectively referred to as the Great Wall.  Especially famous is the wall built 220–206 BC by Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China. Little of that wall remains. Since then, the Great Wall has on and off been rebuilt, maintained, and enhanced. The majority of the existing wall is from the Ming Dynasty. While some portions north of Beijing and near tourist centers have been preserved and even extensively renovated, in many locations the Wall is in disrepair. The wall also has graffiti on it. Before the use of bricks, the Great Wall was mainly built from rammed earth, stones, and wood. During the Ming, however, bricks were heavily used in many areas of the wall, as were materials such as tiles, and stone. The size and weight of the bricks made them easier to work with than earth and stone, so construction was speed up. The wall was built by workers peasants and rebels.

Legend has it that one boy great grandfather, grandfather, and father all died building the wall.T he wall is nick names the Long Graveyard because of all the people who died building the wall.The length of the Great Wall of Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) was 5,500.3 miles.The Great Wall which is mainly in evidence today was actually built during the Ming dynasty, over a period of around 200 years.

Conclusion

The great wall of china was a great innovative idea. It was a brilliant military idea that no other dynasty had thought of. It is one of the only places that has a whole wall boarding the country. This very wall can be the secret to how China became so powerful. If the wall wasn't here they could have faced a lot more attacks and invasions they would prevented them to rise. The Great Wall of China was never made to stop immigrants. Donald Trump is building a similar wall but for immigrants. Certain myths linger around the wall saying you can see the wall from the moon. Over time the wall was renovated because over time the wall diminished. People are getting worried because of the rumor that 1/3 of the wall has disappeared.
